Dining Room

Our dining room was one of the easier updates we did. The main projects we had was painting and replacing the light fixture. It already had the beautiful hardwood, so we used this wood restorer in high gloss.

I used Java Gel Stain to re-purpose my buffet. Click Here to learn more.

I bought all of the decorations at Homegoods (I love Homegoods!) except for the china.

Refinish Buffet Table

Learn how to refinish furniture using gel stain by this AWESOME DIY from MonicaWantsIt

I used Java Gel Stain on all of my dining room furniture and it worked great. I have tried regular stain before and it was always too streaky. This was very simple and I used a combination of a paint brush and foam brushes. I wanted it very dark, so I did 2 coats and then one more touch up coat. I barely sanded beforehand and it still went on great which is another big difference from staining.

Here is the Java Gel Stain that you can buy on Amazon

Also, finished with their satin top coat

Hardware: Home Depot
Decorations: Homegoods (except the china which is an heirloom)

DIY Office Chair

Since our house doesn't have an office, we have to make due with having a little desk in the family room. This chair was horrible looking, especially since I have a grey color scheme so I decided to reupholster it! My accent color is yellow, so I wanted to have a little yellow in the fabric, and found exactly what I wanted at Joann's. Right Here

Here is a great tutorial that I used for my office chair:Click Here
Every chair seems to be a little different, so make sure that you remember exactly how yours goes together when you take it apart and use the old fabric as a pattern for your new fabric.
